I just love this.  We used to beg Mom to not put in nuts, and she often would make one loaf with and one without.

====== Ingredients & Directions ======
<wrap indent>**Bread:**</wrap>
  * 1 cup Soft Shortening (Crisco)
  * 2 cups Sugar
    * Cream
  * 4 Eggs, slightly beaten
       * Mix in
  * 3 1/3 cups Sifted Flour
  * 2 tsp Baking Powder
  * 1 tsp Salt
    * Sift together
  * 1 cup Milk
    * Add to mixture alternately with flour
  * 1 cup Chopped Nuts (optional) (Don't do it!!)
  * Grated zest of 2 Lemons
    * Add
   
  * Bake in 2 15x3 greased pans @ 350F for 1 hour

  * Juice of 2 Lemons + lemon juice to make 2/3 cup
  * 1/2 cup Sugar
  * Pour over loaves as soon as they come out of oven. Refrigerate until cool before removing from pans.
