Ingredients & Directions
1 large Onion, chopped
1 Green Pepper, chopped
3/4 lb Hamburger
Brown, drain fat
1 lb (2 cups) Diced Tomatoes
1 8 oz can Tomato Sauce
2 lb Red or Kidney Beans including liquid
1.5 tsp Chili Powder
1.5 tsp Salt
1 Bay Leaf
1/3 cup Ketchup
Dash Cayenne
Dash Paprika
Add, cover, simmer 1.5 hours
Notes
Original recipe lists some additions for a double recipe:
1/2 can Tomato Paste
1/3 cup Ketchup
Oregano, mustard Vinegar
Not sure why original recipe called for adding the bean liquid at the end. I just put it in with the beans and it doesn't seem to hurt anything.
I've started doubling the recipe but using only 1 lb of ground beef. Not as beefy, but a bit healthier.
Need extra spices used for spicy version.
