Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients

Vanilla Cream Filling

  • 2/3 c sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix the sugar, salt, cornstarch and flour in saucepan.
  2. Stir in the milk gradually. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 minute.
  3. Slowly stir half the mixture into the slightly beaten egg yolks. Blend into hot mixture in saucepan.
  4. Remove from heat. Blend in the butter and vanilla.
  5. Cool, stirring occasionally.
  6. Pour into cooled pie shell. Chill thoroughly, 2 hours.
