Penn Ave Bread Stuffing


Grandma's original recipe was stapled to Mom's newer version. Fun to see the pencil notes on the original version with Mom's alterations.

Preheat: 350°Yield: 8 servings
Prep: 0:30Wait: 12:00Cook: 1:00

Ingredients & Directions

  • 1.5 lb loaf of Bread, cubed and dried
    • Cube night before and let dry overnight
  • 1.5 cup Water, boiling
    • Stir in, let stand 15 minutes
  • 3/4 cup Water, Boiling
    • Stir in
  • 1.5 tsp Poultry Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Parsely
  • 1.5 tsp Dried Sage
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
    • Mix together
    • Mix into mixture
  • 1/4 lb Butter, melted
  • 2 medium Onions, diced
  • 1? stalk Celery, diced (recipe doesn't list amount)
    • Saute until translucent
    • Mix into mixture
  • 1 or 2 Eggs, Beaten
    • Mix into mixture
    • Chill until ready to cook
  • Bake at 350F for ~1:00 until center of stuffing reads 160F
