I remember Dad taking me to the Original Coney Island when I was kid. He knew the owners (probably grew up with the family) and he'd chat while we had our coney islands. I still remember one time when the owner gave me a 5th Avenue candy bar. It was an old place with dim lighting and old paint. Two parts - the restaurant that had a big bar and a bar side that you got to through a door. Dad talked for years about finding a recipe for the sauce. There's a flier in the window that says they're going to start serving again next Friday, for the run of the Republican National Convention. A woman who said she was descendant of original owner Louis Arvanitis (I think it may have been Mary Ellen) was standing just inside the door, insisting the opening was imminent. | There's a flier in the window that says they're going to start serving again next Friday, for the run of the Republican National Convention.
