Sausage Bread

Dough

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 yeast package
  • 1/1/2 cup warm water
  • additional 1 ½ cups flour
  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix together and knead all the ingredients adding up to 1 ½ cups additional flour to form soft, smooth dough. Knead until mixture is smooth and supple. Let mixture rise in a greased covered bowl for about 1 hour.

Filling

  • 1 lb sausage meat
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1 package mozzarella cheese
  1. Fry sausage, drain, then fry peppers and onions, drain and add to fried sausage. Sprinkle ½ package mozzarella cheese on bottom crust. Spread sausage mixture and top with rest of mozzarella cheese. Put on the top crust.

Topping

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons parlsey
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  1. Whisk together and spread on top crust. Cut slits in center and bake in preheated 400 degree oven for about 35 minutes.
